Nicobar Pigeon on the Dampier Peninsula, West Kimberley

Broome Bird Observatory has been sent a photo (third-hand) of a Nicobar Pigeon taken somewhere on the Dampier Peninsula near One Arm Point, north of Broome. The timestamp on the photo suggests it was taken 29th March (thanks Rohan Clarke). No further details at this stage but we’re chasing it up. Grey Shrike-thrush mimicry

Actually yesterday’s post from Kirri Hardy was about a Spangled Drongo mimicking a Pied Butcherbird, not the other way around…….

Yes Grey Shrike-thrush is a good mimic, as are Drongos.

By the way, there is a k in mimicking but no k in mimicry.
