The wetlands I sampled along the southern half of the Bridsville Track 3 weeks ago contained large numbers of Avocet, Pied Stilt, some Red-kneed Dotterals all of which appeared to be breeding. Great action shot Belinda! I have seen this behaviour before a number of times, between different species of raptor. I think most if not all species of raptor are opportunists – it is much easier to steal someone else’s catch than catch something yourself. I’m sure that is what your photo is showing.
