Hi All, Is anyone familiar with this area? I find myself in Phnom Penh for work with a few days to kill and assume all the birding action is in down in Siem Reap. Does anyone have a recommendation for quality ad hoc local guiding at reasonably short notice? Probably will be city based so day trips or possibly an overnighter or 2. Would I pick up much more in the way of endemics, subspecies or migrants than I managed to see in Malaysia Peninsula last year over a concentrated 5days with a legendary guide? Appropriate field guide? Thanks Rob

Hi Rob, As Neil said, go through Sam Veasna Centre if time is an issue. Don’t forget that the very recently discovered Cambodian Tailorbird can be seen just around Phnom Penh, http://cambodiabirdingnews.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Cambodian%20Tailorbird Cheers, Falk On Sun, Aug 23, 2015 at 1:25 AM, Sandra & Neil Shelley < birdrock16@gmail.com — Falk Wicker 14 Edward Street Healesville 3777 Victoria Australia private – falk.wicker@gmail.com work – fwicker@zoo.org.au

Hi Rob, I used a guide from the Sam Veasna Centre (www.samveasna.org) in 2012 and would recommend them highly. I paid for a guide and driver for a morning and got quite a few ticks within a few km of the city. Neil Shelley
