Wedge-tailed Eagles

It was very distressing to read Barney Enders Post re the poisoning of 136 Wedge-tailed Eagles One would like to think that in 2018 after extensive Public education over many years that all rational thinking Human beings would have been educated enough to understand that these birds although capable of attacking live animals eg lambs . . . → Read More: Wedge-tailed Eagles

Birdata uploads from eBird

Hi all,

Credit to Andrew Silcocks and Birdlife: much of promised data transfers have gone through. There is, though, a 15-month gap (30-9-15 – 25-12-16) in my My Data. But good news overall. Thanks all for your thoughtful comments. There’s plenty still to chew on, I feel, particularly with regard to Birdlife’s relevance and responses . . . → Read More: Birdata uploads from eBird

Wedge-tailed Eagles

Madelon, I’m afraid you could be right, we have got a lot of gutless people on the bench nowadays.

However, I’m fortunate enough to be heading back down to Hobart next week for a conference. I should be able to get away for some limited birding and . . . → Read More: RFI: 40-spotted Pardalote

Birdata pickup from eBird surveys

I think from what Andrew said at a BirdLife Melbourne meeting last year, that part of the difficulty was that BirdLife finds the 2ha 20 min. survey most useful, and it wasn’t always apparent from eBird lists just how the person was doing their list i.e. just using Travelling for the type of list, for . . . → Read More: Birdata pickup from eBird surveys

Eurasian Curlew at Point Douro near Bunbury

Hi all,

A Eurasian Curlew was photographed at Point Douro near Bunbury yesterday by Don Carlson – I guess it’s likely to be the same bird recorded at the site for a year or so from early 2016.

Don provided the following notes about access to the site if anyone is heading down for a . . . → Read More: Eurasian Curlew at Point Douro near Bunbury

Birdata pickup from eBird surveys (Tony Ashton)

Tony I had a similar response from Andrew Silcocks last week, so hopefully it is close to happening.
