‘Pretty gruesome’: giant coconut crab seen hunting birds

Hi Anthea, There are lots of big Robber Crabs on Christmas Island! Lets hope eating birds doesn’t occur to them. We were there during the red crab migration and did see plenty of robber crabs eating red crabs that had been squished on the road.

Hi Anthea,

Judging from the red feet, I reckon it’s a red-footed booby.

They have been documented breeding on those islands.

Cheers

Differences between the Australian subspecies of the Yellow-billed Kingfisher and those of New Guinea

Hello All, Recently I did a trip to Iron Range with Ken Haines and Ken spotted and photographed a female Yellow-billed Kingfisher.
