Shorebird clutch size

Hi all,

I had a question from a researcher at Flinders Uni recently about how many shorebirds have four-egg clutches. While I have some field experience with shorebirds, I’ve not been involved with any breeding surveys so I thought I would throw the question out there to the birding-aus community to see if anyone knows the answer?

Alex is CC’d in to this email so please make sure he is included in any replies.

  1. Hi Chris,

The local Masked Lapwings at my work had a clutch of 4 chicks last year and the year before. Not sure it that’s helpful or if you were after a more exotic species.

    Regards, Mark
