HELMETED GUINEAFOWL AT SAMSONVALE, QLD

Does anyone know how long the Helmeted Guineafowl at Samsonvale Cemetery have been there? I paid my first visit this aftrenoon and was surpised to see them. Do they qualify under the 10-year rule? Regards Andy Wood

  1. Hi Andy,

While there have been Guineafowl at Samsonvale for quite a long time (since at least 2003 from my knowledge), they don’t qualify as they aren’t breeding/aren’t self-sustaining.

I also believe the birds there now are not the same as the ones there on my first visit. The original birds kept disappearing til there was only one left. That one persisted for a few years, but suddenly there are four again.

    Cheers, Chris
