I can hear… Noisy Miner, Crimson Rosella, Fan-tailed Cuckoo and Striated Pardalote. I would hazard a guess at Olive-backed Oriole as I’ve heard them conduct just as impressive mimicry and the location matches nicely. Superb Lyrebird would be my second guess. I recorded ALL my WTNT sightings on lists in Eremaea. I was very pleased to see needletails on almost 15 separate occasions over this season. This is in contrast to last (Summer 2010/11) where I only saw 1-2. However the majority of my sightings from this Summer were of single birds to small flocks (5-10). … Read more
I have heard the odd Boobook and Powerful Owl here in Gladesville of late so its nice to know they’re getting around. Especially the Boobook as the PO isn’t all that surprising with the Lane Cove River population being so close by.
