Sue Romane 205

I saw a notice in the newsletter the other day that Sue Romane had managed to idenitfy 205 birds in the Bega Valley Shire last year. I keep coming back to that number in my head as it’s so impressive. it must have taken a lot of effort and skill to do so well down here. Sue, I hope that you had a great time doing it and find even more in 2015! P.S. I still think that the Pitta should count for extra points 😉 P.P.S. This morning’s excitment was a bunch of Red-browed Finches leaping about in the grass. So gorgeous. “Common but never ordinary”, as they say. And then a bit later a huge black snake slithering away at speed.

…and I sent that message to the wrong list. Well, in case anyone is coming down to the Far South Coast of NSW, now you know what we’ve got some dedicated bird-watchers on the ground. In fact, the number of resources for our beutiful and sparsely populated area are unreasaonbly good. A local photo guide with excellent pictures, a as-good-as-any-I’ve-seen site guide for the area, and a dedicated mailing list. This is very much a visitor’s area, so anyone coming this way, please get in touch in advance for tips and suggestions. http://www.fscb.org.au/
