Silver Gull intelligence

After Saturday’s Sydney Pelagic we were staying at Coogee Beach. There after dark we noticed that Silver Gulls would follow people walking along the paths and make begging calls, but only the people were carrying chip packets. Any other types of food, or bags, being carried elicited no response.

    Hi John,

On a similar note, at Centennial Park in Sydney, Black Swans will often ignore an adult walking along the side of the lake but if there are kids with an adult, they will swim over as there’s a higher chance of being fed. Spent about an hour watching them picking out likely victims. Cheers,
