Free plug for commercial operators

G’day everybody As a commercial operator I tend like Peter Waanders NOT to use Birding-Aus for my own free advertising but have watched as others do so on a regular basis. So what is good for the Goose is good for the Gander. I could list all the key birds from areas all over QLD[ except the East coast ] that my guests get to see and photograph, but I won’t. I will however for the good people who have not yet done a Birding Adventure with me invite them to have a look at my web site www.closeupbirding.com.au and photo gallery [ all photo’s taken by passed guests ] to see the extensive areas I cover from Thargominda to Cape York / Iron Range. Thanks for your time and I hope this gets posted OR they stop all free commercial advertising on this site,I will be happy either way! Cheers David { Chook } Crawford Close-Up Birding Adventures www.closeupbirding.com.au info@closeupbirding.com.au

Hi Chook, It’s not a good advertisement for your business when your clients have passed… While they have been on your tours :-) Past clients maybe.. Keep up the good work :-) Regards John Yours in all things “green” John Harris BASc, GDipEd Director – Wildlife Experiences P/L Principal Zoologist/Ecologist Nature Photographer Wildlife Guide Croydon, Vic 0409 090 955 President, Field Naturalists Club of Victoria http://www.fncv.org.au —– Reply message —– …….look at my web site http://www.closeupbirding.com.au and photo gallery [ all photo’s taken by passed guests ]….

Also there is a TOURS page off the Birding-Aus.org home page where commercial operators and guides can advertise their business.

Hi everyone, Don’t forget the Birding-aus rules can be found here: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org In short, the rules state: “Please remember that messages sent to the Birding-Aus mailing list must not: 1. contain offensive or inappropriate language 2. contain personal attacks (discuss the message, not the messenger – no flaming) 3. be intended to incite arguments (no trolling) 4. include attachments over 200Kb in size (high resolution images for discussion can be uploaded to our FaceBook group) 5. contain commercial content, unless it is related to birds or birding, and contains the word ADVERTISEMENT in the Subject Line 6. contain misinformation intended to deceive our readers or to garner support for deliberately false sightings 7. stray too far from our main topics: Australian birds, their habitat & conservation” The rules are updated periodically and are advertised on birding-aus when they are changed. Russell last updated the rules and advertised this on 18th April this year. One of the most recent changes being that you MAY post commercial content to the list provided that it related to birds and birding AND that it includes the word “ADVERTISEMENT” in the subject line (rule 5). Obviously the moderators have a certain latitude here, and in the context of the most recent discussion the postings by a couple of tour operators were allowed simply because they were responses to an initial thought (started by Don Kimball) on the possibility of parrot tours. The other more recent rule changes include the ability to post small attachments – which allows for small, low-resolution images, lists, articles and other documents to be included. Another recent rule addition specifically bans posts that contain deliberate misleading information. Paul Dodd Docklands, Victoria
