Snipe

Martin

Thanks for the info on Lathams (Japanese) Snipe, and your other posts.

The Snipe message is that, unlike Washington, Draining the Swamps of Canberra should be resisted to the very end, which may only be a matter of decades unless rational Homo saps. replace the Neanderthals controlling our worlds energy policies.

Cheers

Latham’s Snipe Robe SA

Saw a number of Latham’s Snipe at Fox Lake Robe SA. Some surprised me in that they were right out in the open feeding on a sandbar. Even wading out till the water was up to their body. My experience is that they are usually much more reclusive.

Queensland wildfires

Never before in Australia have extensive areas of pristine subtropical rainforest be reduced to ashes by fire. That is what has happened in and around Eungella National Park in the hinterland of the central Queensland coast in recent days. This not only imperils the Eungella Honeyeater in that part of the world; it . . . → Read More: Queensland wildfires

Koel hosts

I know this is a bit late. Eastern Koels are not uncommon in the Northern Rivers but, in the last 10 years, we have only twice seen a young Koel being fed by host parents. In both case the hosts were Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes. Geoff and Natalie Ryan

The Pilliga Scrub

Just returned from Timmallallie National Park northern section where I managed to get two photos of a bird (circa 10-11cm in length) frolicking around in a recently burnt out section. Overall appearance was a greyish color.

Any help with the ID

Many thanks
