In an article in The Weekend Australian I address the irony of cashed up
birders being rewarded with a visit to the Pullen Pullen Night Parrot
Reserve in return for a $25,000 donation, while others face a $353,000 fine
for entering more than 250,000ha of potential Night Parrot habitat that has
been locked up by Queensland Government conservation orders.

I’m interested to hear how they handle the problem of a no show. Perhaps for that much money, they’ll try many times.
I’m also interested to know more about the $5000 for the permit. What permit is that? Is there some kind of standard research permit that always costs that much? Or is this a special permit created for Night Parrot viewing? Where does the money go?
