Birdpedia – Australia – Weekly Digest

The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period Monday, March 23, 2020 to Sunday, March 29, 2020:

Area: SA

Location: In our St Peters garden

Nankeen Kestrel (Falco cenchroides) (1) Kestrels have been flying over the same road our home (very occasionally), but this was the first to actually put its feet into our garden. It was circling round, calling, then settled very briefly at the top of our huge gum tree, about 25 metres from the ground, before heading off.

To anyone who thought I had totally lost my marbles when I put my previous post in, don’t blame me, it was my laptop (truly). It has the charming habit of dumping something off the clipboard somewhere in the text, and because of where it put that garbage, I couldn’t see it on the screen

Date: Sunday, March 29, 2020

Location: In our St Peters garden

Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris) (1) Calling in our garden this afternoon, but I couldn’t manage to spot it. On March 24th I was pretty sure I saw a female feeding in Eremophila flowers, but was too far away to be sure and didn’t have my binocs right there.
