My theory is that Aussies wouldnt necessarily be attracted to or want to pay for a tour to see parrots in their own land. Am I correct on that one? I know that globally those of us who do not live in Aus have no qualms about funding a tour just to see parrots. I wonder what my mates in Aus think about this one. Thanks as always for great feedback here! Don Kimball www.aviandiscoverytours.com

Good luck with this project Peter. It would be an outstanding result to get all the Grasswrens in 16 days – especially if you include recent and proposed splits. The White-throated must surely be a massive challenge. I’ll look forward to seeing a post trip report Regards Ray Pearson Sent from my iPhone Regards Ray

Hi Laurie and everyone, We’re doing just that: for 2016, an all-Grasswren tour is on the program. As you and many others will know, we’ve been running 6 Grasswren tours since 2006, expanded to 9 Grasswrens 2 years ago, and we’re now working with local bird guides to plan an all Grasswren tour taking in all current species plus a number of the proposed splits. It will be delivered using a combination of private charter flights (by a reputable company) and 4WD vehicles. It looks like it will be around 16 days. As a result, it will be expensive and with limited seats. Nevertheless, there has already been strong interest. Further details are on my website: http://www.bellbirdtours.com and here: http://sabirding.com/grasswren.html#all keeping in mind that we’re still in the final planning stage of this project. (I’ve always refrained from putting messages of a commercial nature on birding-aus so sorry if this breaks the advertising rules but it appears that others can do so undeterred and repeatedly). cheers Peter ——- Peter Waanders Bellbird Tours / Southern Birding Services / Australian Birding Store PO Box 2008, Berri SA 5343 Australia Phone: 1800-BIRDING (free from landlines within Australia) mob.: +61 (0)409 763172 sat.: +61 (0)424 212889 Email: birds@bellbirdtours.com Bellbird Tours: http://www.bellbirdtours.com Southern Birding Services: http://www.sabirding.com Birding Store: http://www.birdingstore.com.au Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Southern-Birding-Services/134270499971996 On Wed, May 6, 2015 at 1:30 AM, Laurie Knight < l.knight@optusnet.com.au> wrote:

G’day Don The parrot tour that the locals would want to do would be one that takes them to the hard to get ones – Princess, Scarlet Chested, Night, Paradise etc 😉 An interesting challenge would be to set up a Grasswren tour – grasswrens are iconic outback birds, and you could probably put together a good scenic tour that lines up all their ranges … Regards, Laurie.
