Hi all
Today 6/9/2010 in Roebuck Bay at Quarry Beach I discovered yet another Semi-palmated Plover. The first bird for Australia that turned up last October is still present at the Broome Poo Ponds and George Swann confirmed it was still present at the time of my sighting.
This is very exciting as it is now the 4th record of this species in Australia in the past 9 months.
An image of todays bird can be found about half way down in the vagrant gallery… http://www.pbase.com/wildlifeimages/vagrants
Or if you want to see photos from 3 of the 4 records for Australia then check out http://www.pbase.com/wildlifeimages/semi_palmated_plover The last 2 images in this gallery are from today.
Cheers from the Semi-palmated capital of Australia

Why is it not Ringed Addy? The prominent and comparatively long white eyebrow looks more Ringed I think…..that smudge on the neck is good for Ringed….bill looks a bit stubby but maybe the photo angle…….legs look nice and long….habitat looks perfect….anyway, just my 10 cents worth…..Maybe you heard it call Addy? Cheers, Bill
