The pastoral lands look magnificent at the moment with water everywhere, in puddles, pools and lakes! So perhaps it is not surprising that there have been no records of Banded Stilt dispersing to their normal non-breeding grounds. But there have been several records of juvenile Banded Stilt in the pastoral lands: late July – a ‘mob’ on a small lake east of Lake Torrens. 1st Aug – 100+ were seen feeding in shallow water at Coorlay Lagoon (which is 18km south of Roxby Downs). 10th Aug – approx 60 were feeding in the North Lake of Coorlay Lagoon. 29th Aug – once again, Coorlay Lagoon. 3 juv Banded Stilt together with Black-winged Stilt (mixed juv and adult) and Avocet.
To date no stilt have been seen at Bird Lake, Port Augusta.
