RE Nikon Monarchs and don’t put your binos on the car roof!(Bob Dawson)

I’ve had no trouble with the eyecups, although I’ve only had them a few months. I wear glasses, so the cups are wound right in all the time. I don’t know if the problems other people have had with them are because they’re fragile and are exposed to damage when wound out, or if they’re winding them in and out regularly and wearing them out.

Some postings I’ve read suggest that grit causes problems with the tracks, and that people who share the binoculars between glasses wearers and non glasses wearers have problems with this, and also that winding them back in each time they’re put away leads to the same issues. I don’t know if the current models still have the problem, there have been several models since they came out in 1997, and it’s generally impossible to know which model people are talking about. (I have the 7294 8×42 model, also known as Monarch III, which came out early this year)
