Mike Carter has just rang with the news that a Hodgson’s Hawk Cuckoo has been collected dead on Cocos Keeling today. Wing measurements 177mm and 176, inner most tertial on both sides white. Hi, I have to agree with Dion – to my mind this is a stone-cold Cook’s. The fact that the dark eye-mark is so prominent and there is a very strong supercillium make it quite unlike Pycroft’s. The general structure is also Cook’s – the tail would want to look longer for a Pycroft’s. Sav … Read more
