There are several resident flocks of YTBC’s around Adelaide, each of which has it’s own seasonal movement pattern. Luke Price, a threatened fauna ecologist with the South Australian Environment Dept, has documented the movements and size of these flocks over the past few years using observations from volunteer birdos. He’d be the best person to contact for details: luke.price@sa.gov.au. A flock of ~100 YTBCs were feeding on the cones of introduced pines in Belair (suburb south of Adelaide CBD) early this past September. Cheers Greg Johnston E: pelecanus85@gmail.com From: “Donald G. Kimball” <ibwonet1@gmail.com> Subject: Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo in Adelaide and surrounds Just returned from a 3 week whirlwind visit to OZ. Whew. Enough to tell me as I get older I got to go a bit slower…lol. I noticed that in Bird Data YTBC shows up in Sept especially south of the CBD of Adelaide. Anyone from Adelaide want to comment? Love to know if this species is predictably and relatively easy to find in the Adelaide area in Sept. Thanks as always for such great help here. Too many of you to thank for sure!
