Just two WTNT this morning at 7:50am. Heavily overcast and quite windy. Birds were moving from the north and heading south. They weren’t in any hurry … must have been feeding as they both were seen swooping/ ducking and diving left and right.

There were approx 10-15 WTNTs at Terrey Hills at noon yesterday afternoon. I was only able to observe them for about 5 minutes. Regards, Mark

Plus, today, since the temperature fell we’ve had three Channel-bills being chased by a single male Koel — the racket! — while another Koel calls from a tree. And sometimes tailing the chasing Koel, a magpie, or a miner. It’s a circus. For the last few days, too, there’ve been two Drongos displaying side-by-side in the MBayFig. Terribly dry, but must change soon is the message, hopefully. Judith for info too I had 75+ WTNTs on Sunday afternoon (26/10) at around 4pm overhead of me above the floodplains just outside of the Dayboro township (SEQ). I was checking for snipe and heard my first Dollarbird for the season calling and so looked up to locate it and noticed all the WTNTs circling overhead at differing heights and into the clouds. They appeared to be feeding on the wing and stayed around for about 10 minutes of so. I’d generally been scouring the skies for a week or so up till then anticipating their return. Had a large number of WTNT (100-300+) flying low over Coffs Harbour, north coast NSW, on same day Tuesday 25 Feb, from city centre to Hospital. One seen at Repton turnoff at Bonville. Flock of around 15 White-throated Needletails circling above Brisbane Airport at 7:15am on Friday 2 March. Clear skies and calm conditions.
Flock of about 20 White-throated Needletails seen flying from Westleigh towards Cherrybrook at around 9am this morning.
