> 28th-30th April, 2017. A new bird monitoring and conservation project on King Island, Wings on King’ is being launched with a three day, weekend celebration of the birds of King Island. We’d love you to come and join us.

> The Wings on King launching Celebration will be a combination of fieldwork, workshops, a half day seminar and social events.

> About the Wings on King Project: A project of the King Island Natural Resource Management Group (KINRMG) and BirdLife Australia, Wings on King will be an on-going project, so if you can’t make it in April for the launch, come another time.

> Using the new BirdLife Atlas portal, app and methodology, data submitted will inform the KINRMG on conservation and island sustainability initiatives in the long-term. But with only a small human population, we need your help to gather the data. Registered Wings on King participants will visit a number of established survey sites on private land that are not accessible to other visitors.

> About King Island Birds: Situated in the middle of Bass Strait, King Island is unique. Resident bird species include six King Island subspecies, ten Tasmanian endemics and a plethora of other species that also occur on the mainland. As well, the island is used by national and international migrants, some breeding, some resting, and is haphazardly visited by a range of sometimes surprising vagrants. It’s worth a visit.
