Why I hate cats. The death of a Buff-banded Rail

Hi Bob,

Come now……… What is the story? The bird is no longer there. It arrived (from somewhere else) a few months ago. It could have just left. There is nothing strange about a bird leaving. It could have been taken by any number of possible predators. Yes if the BBR was killed by something, then no doubt a cat could be the culprit. That would not be news. However for now you don’t even have a “crime” and certainly no evidence of a guilty party………… That you have not found a collection of feathers and bits of bird, of itself suggests (to me) that a cat did not kill it.
