Good morning Mike Yesterday morning at about 0900 in between Turners Beach and Yamba shops saw a small number of WTNTs (about10) in a small window of sky through overhanging trees. Could have been many more. Cheers Geoff On Fri, Dec 11, 2015 at 7:43 AM, Geoff Ryan < geoffryanster@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Joan White-throated Needletails don’t have a white rump. Perhaps you saw their vents on the underside (which are white)? If the birds had white rumps – they may have been Fork-tailed Swifts? Rob Sent from my iPad

Greetings Mike Yes, the 20+ were on the 18th November. This morning [19.11.14] I spotted two [2] White-throated Needletails flying over Yarraman [South Burnett, Queensland]. I’d have stopped to have a closer look BUT this is a busy highway and [after 40 years of carefree driving in Australia] having been hit by five [5] ‘roos this year -to say nothing of the cow that sat on my bonnet- I wasn’t game enough to argue with the cattle movers ahead and behind me. I also had 20+ White-throated Needletails yesterday, at Coutts Crossing, north coast NSW. I also had two views of single Fork-tailed Swifts about 30 minutes apart. This was during overcast and muggy weather with a few light showers. This is my first Fork-tailed Swift sighting at this location. Regards Greg Dr Greg. P.
