I went to Minnippi wetlands yesterday in the rain with no success so after seeing John Hammonds report I went there again this morning at about 10am. It was quite windy and after half an hour I was still searching. Then I was alerted by a reasonably strong “Chip Chip “ call and the culprit turned out to be the White fronted H/E I had excellent bins views for about 5 minutes in some reasonably low flowering trees before the bird moved away. After another half hour or so it was again feeding in some small melelauca flowers on the edge of the forest area. If you do not know Minnippi then you should drive into the carpark,take the concrete path to the south for about 400 metres. Then take the first concrete path to the left and then veer left onto the mowed gas pipeline track. You should see the metal box on a pole(no 269). The forested area to the east is the likely area to search. I saw the bird on the edge of the mowed track within 20 metres of the metal box and also just into the small track to the east of the pipeline easement. A great find and thanks to those who alerted us to it.

White-Fronted Honeyeater was still present at same location this morning, very active and calling almost constantly. Typical call was a distinctive sharp chup-chup sounding like 2 pebbles being knocked together (somewhat like a Stonechat if you’re familiar with UK birds).

I saw the bird early this afternoon – was feeding in one of the low shrubs on the small track – took off and I wasnt able to relocate but a nice look all the same – unmistakeable – unlike any of the locals!
