Yes, Paul is right. I should have checked my own database and also the SOSSA website! Wedge-tailed Shearwater arrives in NSW in August – so it was not out of season!

Presumably the Wedge-tailed Shearwater off Sydney on 9 July 2011 was out of season. The August bird might not be out of season but in the context of the july record I’d be cautious about calling it early returner.
