Hi all,
It looks like the waders are starting to return to Werribee. There aren’t many yet but in amongst the over-wintering Red-necked Stints there are a few sporting almost all their summer breeding plumage. They stand out well with their red necks and strong back colours. I was there on Tuesday 7th and did not see any but yesterday they were in the Western Lagoon.
The Oriental Pratincol is still in the Western Lagoon, surprisingly standing beside the same bush where I saw it on Sunday 29th July. There was no sign of the Broad-billed Sandpiper so maybe it has decided to do a reverse migration?
cheers
