Tracking

Following a post on the Facebook page about using the Ocker-Post tracking
service to monitor the route a book took to travel all round Melbourne I
have been doing the same on my volume. Its more fun t’han radio tracking
shorebirds!! (And somewhat harder to explain.)

It left Prahan at 1452 on Thursday last and almost exactly 24 hours later,
after visiting Mount Waverley, left Sunshine West. According to Google
maps it covered 52km in those 24hrs. Average speed is 2.17kph. Yesterday
evening (51:25 after departure) it reached Granville in Sydney. The
overall average speed is thus 12.6kph – Cliff Young and Yiannis Kouros
managed about 7kph!

So it is now 300kph from home having been within 90km as it went along the
Hume Hwy! On their forecast (and knowing when our mail usually gets
delivered) its going to take 60 hours to make the last leg(s). Kouros used
to cover the distance in about 24 hours.
