The Piping Shrike

I have a book ( Birds, Birders, and Birdwatching 1899-1999 ( Collier, Hatch, Matheson and Russell Eds. 2000) which has a short article about the emblem’s origins by the late Joan Paton, which throws some light on who might have been responsible for the emblem’s design.
