The Mallee and Mallee birds under threat.

Hi all Here is a link to a sad article in the age yesterday. As many of you will know over clearing of Mallee for wood and farmland has taken its toll. These now remnant patches that have been left behind have been under threat from frequent large fires for decades. Recruitment of wildlife into these areas cant happen over the large distances between reserves. Sadly the Mallee Emu Wren and the Black-eared miner are in similar situations as the Regent Honeyeater and the Orange-bellied Parrot. Let hope these current fires are the last we see for the season but I doubt it. http://www.theage.com.au/environment/south-australian-fires-push-emuwrens-to-the-edge-20140208-328sx.html Cheers Adrian _______________________________________________ Birding-Aus mailing list Birding-Aus@birding-aus.org To change settings or unsubscribe visit: http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
