Dear B-A,
I went down to my local Aldi this afternoon for a bag of potato wedges and came out with a Tevion Wildlife Camera/Photo Trap as well. It has a 5mp camera, infra-red flash and stand-by battery life of up to 6 months. Looks pretty solid and comes with tree mount SD card and batteries. Price is reasonable, $129.00
It will be interesting to see what it picks up at at night around the campsite next birding trip. Also might tell me who’s moggy is digging up my new miniature roses.
Cheers,
Carl Clifford

Hi Stephen, That’s their primary use, setting up to see what deer, mainly, are around. A big hit in the USA amongst hunters. Like a lot of things that come out of military research, eventually humanity finds a beneficial use for these developments, the same for trail cameras. I will have to pop back into aldi this week.

At least they are multi-purpose. Some of the potential uses must be interesting, as there is a page and a bit in the users manual, on “Potential legal infringements”.
Cheers,

I see that Aldi’s online marketing is promoting it as a hunting camera. Probably taking advantage of the introduction of hunting in NSW national parks.

They seem to be a good buy at the price and quite solidly built. Images are not bad for 5mp either.

a friend of mine bought two – she’s keeping an eye on her chooks at night and the local wildlife I think she’s pretty happy with them – her husband has also been using them for time lapse shots

Sounds great – i remember seeing these recently mentioned on BAus but was always a bit scared of buying one. Love to hear how it performs Carl!

Nice! I used to love the odd items that Aldi would turn up, but sadly they’re not in SA. In the UK, they sell some servicable spotting scopes and nest boxes from time to time. Cheers,
Tony
