About 9am today, we thought we had a large flock of Needletails or Swifts doing their thing over our house at Brooms Head, northern NSW. However, a closer look showed they were all Common Terns. We watched for about a minute before they moved out over the ocean, but can’t say how long it might have been happening. We’ve not observed this behaviour in the past. There has been a group of about thirty on the lagoon, but this mob would have exceeded a hundred. It was spectacular while it lasted. Is this common? The conservation battle is never finally won; the development battle is. e^(πί)+1=0
