Tasmanian Boobook

Hi all Sorry i know this was discussed a little while ago but wanted to check: Is the Boobook in Tasmania now split according to IOC as Morepork – Ninox novaeseelandiae ? We saw one on Sth Bruny island last week so obviously a potential new bird :) Cheers Dave Stowe ===============================

    G’day Dave,

    That’s correct, the IOC list currently has both Tasmanian ssp leucopsis and Norfolk Island ssp undulata with the NZ Morepork.

    G’day Dave, The IOC Master List (v2.11) lists Morepork N. novaeseelandiae as occurring in Tasmania and New Zealand, so that looks promising for you! Going to Tasmania in December, looks like we’ll have to put some proper time into finding a boobook 😀 Cheers,John
