Sydney Pelagic -Cape Petrel

Yeah, g’day Roger We saw our first Cape Petrel on Sydney pelagics, from our notes, in 2009 and 2010. Last Thursday, we saw one as it flew around the whale-watching vessel we took from Coffs Harbour giving much better looks than we’ve had before. While the whales did not perform very well the trip was worth it for the birdwatchers on board. Other birds identified out of Coffs: Fairy Prions; lots of pairs, one group of about 6 Yellow-nosed Albatross Two other Albatross that we could not be sure of – possibly Shy and Grey-headed Gannets; lots Silver Gulls Crested Tern Peter and Bev Morgan The conservation battle is never finally won; the development battle is. > On 14 Jul 2015, at 3:40 pm, Roger McGovern < roglou@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > > SYDNEY PELAGIC TRIP REPORT – SATURDAY 11 JULY 2015 > . Highlights of the trip were small numbers of Antarctic Prions, a group of six White-fronted Terns and our first Cape Petrel off Sydney since November 2012. >
