sunshine coast birds

Highlights from some birding around the Sunshine Coast last weekend. Rose-crowned Fruit-Doves were a bit late this year but are back with a vengeance – they and Wompoos were common at several sites in the Blackalls. A pair of White-eared Monarchs showed well in rainforest near Mapleton. A pair of adult Black-necked Storks were alongside a drain at Maroochy Waters. A pair of Lewin’s Rail was very vocal at Peregian Beach, indicating breeding. Greg Roberts ===============================
