Hi all After a few reports on the NSW birdline over the last few weeks, I went to check if Streaked Shearwaters are still off the coast around Sydney. A seawatch from Long Reef in northern Sydney approx 5:40-7pm on Thurs 5 Feb yielded a single Streaked Shearwater (heading southwards approx 6:40) quite close to the reef. 4 Sooty Shearwaters seen (all singles) bombing through at high speed and a few small packets (5-10 birds) of Short-tailed Shearwaters also headed south. Amongst the Wedge-tailed and Fluttering type shearwaters offshore were also two heavy looking jaegers chasing Crested Terns, but too far off to discern between Pomarine or Arctic. Nothing unusual on the reef itself, but the number of Crested Terns was quite high (approx. 80 birds). Cheers Tom Wilson
