Stilt Sandpiper at WTP

Seems anyone interested may have already seen this by now, but I have benefited from the generosity of other folks’ postings on this one so it seems only right to mention that it was still present this morning (28/12/10) until about 1100 when we had finished looking at it in number 7 pond at the T-section.

There were still a few Greenshanks about but the Stilt Sandpiper seemed to be keeping to itself, and was giving very good views and not seeming too flighty. Thanks very much to Debbie for arranging access and to the considerable gathering of birders for the use of scopes and pointing the bird out in the first place. Suffice to say, when any of you are ever in The Alice, drop me a line and I’ll sort you out.

Cheers, Chris Watson (Alice Springs, temporarily in Melbourne en route to Tasmania)
