Good morning, I’ve just booked a trip to Sri Lanka and am wondering if anyone has any useful advice about field guides/apps for there. Thanks, Sonja

Hi Peter, Thanks for that. I decided on that one as our guide Deepal Warakagoda, but have to say that I ordered from the Book Depository as it was cheaper and they don’t charge postage. I suppose it’s bad not to be supporting businesses, but the saving would be about $20 possibly unfortunately. Sonja

To add to Steve’s mail, the same team + Deepal Warakagoda published via HELM Field Guides, “Birds of Sri Lanka”, 2012. Could be the one to get? (from Andrew Isles…). Regards, Peter —– Original Message —– < birding-aus@birding-aus.org> Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2015 3:35 PM

G’day Sonja The only app I’m aware of is the Birds of the Indian Subcontinent by Grimmett, Inskipp and Inskipp. It covers far more than you need but looks very good. No calls though. Cheers Steve

I used John Harrison’s A Field Guide to the Birds of Sri Lanka and it was the one the guide at the lodge we stayed at used too. Enjoy Sri Lanka! Wendy Cayless
