Spotted Whistling-Duck

Hi Folks, John Grant found 13 Spotted Whistling-Duck at Wonga Beach (between Mossman and Daintree Village) yesterday and asked us to post the report for him. We went down this morning to check out the area in a residential sub-division and and found the ducks easily. This is another range extension south for these birds, I think Lakefield National Park which is now called Rinyirru National Park was the furthest south they have been reported previously. I’d be surprised if the birds stay long as they are in a very small lily filled lagoon on a house block. Anyway keep a look out as they maybe heading your way!
