Although it’s a bit late, the species list for the trip on the 3rd June 2012 is now on the SOSSA website. It can be found at the following link http://www.sossa-international.org/forum/content.php?470-Sunday-3rd-June-SOSSA-PELAGIC-TRIP-WOLLONGONG-NSW-AUSTRALIA
There were 23 (or 24) species sighted on the trip, the highlight being the extraordinary numbers of Buller’s Albatross. The maximum around the boat was 20, with probably close to 30 birds for the day.
There were a couple of puzzling birds too.
One, a Wandering Albatross, of which photos can be found at http://www.sossa-international.org/forum/showthread.php?143-Wandering-Albatross-off-Wollongong-3-6-12
The other was a juvenile albatross, probably a Buller’s or Salvin’s. A photo and discussion can be found at http://www.sossa-international.org/forum/showthread.php?142-possible-Salvin-s-Albatross-off-Wollongong-3-6-12
Just a reminder, registration on the SOSSA website is free and open to all.
