Hi all, I’ve tried asking around and still haven’t managed to get, what I thought was a simple answer. I have perused HANZAB and field guides, and tried Google….. I just cannot find a size description for the migratory Gull-billed Tern, affinis, for comparison purposes ( the closest says “smaller Gull-billed..”). Have seen affinis often, but I’d just like a size – like they give birds in the field guides. Nothing scientifically involved, thanks. In other words, overall length, not wingspan, or bill length, or..! Much appreciated, thanks birders. Peter, you’re not looking carefully enough, the measurements are in HANZAB vol.3, page 584, middle of second column, last table shows measurements for (6) ssp nilotica and (7) ssp affinis. Thanks Jeff…that is where I looked, but can only see size of macrotarsa, not affinis……!?! Just wording saying it’s alot smaller – which of course it is. Thanks and Cheers Peter —–Original Message—– Sent: Wednesday, 9 October 2013 11:27 PM The measurements are in HANZAB vol.3.
