SFW feeding HBC

On a more serious note, and in answer to Russell’s original question, I had a family group of Superb Wrens feeding a fledged Horsfield’s Bronze Cuckoo in the Capertee Valley just last Thursday, so it would indeed seem that breeding has continued quite late into summer this year. The cuckoo looked easily well developed enough to be fending for itself – is anyone aware if cuckoo young will overstay their necessary feeding period just because they can?

Oh, and Helen, I have always found abbreviations to be a great way to test my knowledge of birds. In this case, it would seem you had an impressive day, with a haul of 12 Channel-billed Cuckoos, 2 Hornbill (Helmeted) Friarbirds, 1 Yellow-spotted Honeyeater, 3 White-bellied Cuckoo Shrikes, 7 White-breasted Woodswallows, and masses of Torresian Imperial Pigeons. Am I right? :)
