I saw a pelican and a WBSE have a tussle over a dead fish on the Hawkesbury River (NSW). The swimming pelican laid claim to the food by raising its beak vertically and snapping at the sea eagle, while at the same time making very loud honking noises. The sea eagle didn’t put up much opposition and soon flew off as if it hadn’t been interested after all.
