8/5/11 around 16.30 we saw a partially coloured (i.e. red head and top of breast only, brown rest of body) Scarlet H/E with group of Yellow-faced H/Es in trees beside access road to Sphinx Memorial, near Bobbin Head Rd entrance to Ku-ring-gai Chase NP. Are we right in thinking this is an unusual time of year to see such species?

Jill and Sue At Warriewood wetlands (Sydney, Northern beaches) on May 9th saw Scarlet, White-cheeked, Yellow-faced and Lewin’s Honeyeaters. So I guess Scarlets are around. Cheers Chris Gregory

Hi Jill and Sue,
Ed Williams and myself saw Scarlet Honeyeaters in various states of undress almost a year ago to the day in Kuring-gai NP in with huge mixed flocks of honeyeaters (I think we got something like 12 species). I also saw a couple in full dress just under a month ago in the Royal NP. Don’t know if that’s any help to you. Cheers,
