Sabine’s Gull, Long Beach near Portland!!!

No, Mike, I disagree!

If everyone puts the right information into the headline of their message (e.g. “species-place-state” or “place-state” if you aren’t reporting a specific species), then the pre-screening process would be much easier and save a lot of time. I.e. if you are in Sydney you may or may not be interested in the fourth Channel-billed Cuckoo of the season on Croker Island… So a useful headline could be a good indicator for “read” or “delete”. Moreover, a useful headline makes later web searches for specific species or places much easier.

The above Sabine’s Gull was seen yesterday in off Long Beach near Portland, Oregon, USA. Not in Long Beach, NSW, nor in Long Beach, TAS, nor in Portland, VIC, nor in Portland, NSW! If I had put “Sabine’s Gull, Long Beach near Portland, OR, USA” it may have caused less anxiety in Victoria this morning.

Cheers,

Nikolas
