Hi birders
My partner and I are off to Kangaroo Island for a week after Christmas. While this is not exactly a birding trip, I figure I should be able to get a good 4-5 hours of birding in a day without too much hassle I have ransacked the archives and as usual there is a lot of good information. I have also bought Peter Waanders excellent PDF on SA birding. My particular targets here are Mallee (Western) Whipbird, Glossy Black-Cockatoo and Rock parrot so any recent information or hints would be greatly appreciated.
I have also managed to negotiate (bribe) a further week to 10 days on my own following this so am planning to hit Port Augusta and the Eyre Peninsula possibly going as far as Ceduna and/or Gawler Ranges. I realise it will likely be very hot but will be as prepared as can be. Any recent information on this (large) area or hints on good sites to check out would be greatly appreciated.
A trip report will be produced upon my return.
Thanks in advance

This reminded me that during a recent visit to Kangaroo Island, hosting an English non birder, I found the halmaturina ssp of the Brush Wattlebird which had been missed on previous trips. We stayed at the West End Caravan Park where these birds are all over the place, especially around the cabin area.
