RFI Common Teal

Hi all,

Last November a Common (Eurasian) Teal, *Annas crecca,* was found on West Island, Cocos Keeling.

I am wondering if anyone on the list, especially those with experience with Indonesian birding, has heard of any records of Common Teal occurring south of the equator in the Asian region. They are a bird know for being a vagrant to many areas and there are plenty of reports for Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Korea etc but I can’t find any for Indonesia or elsewhere south of the equator.

The only place that I know they are regularly seen south of the equator is in Africa. They have also been split from the American Green-winged Teal, *Annas carolinensis*, and that is known from South America as well as Hong Kong so if there are any reports of this species south of the equator in Asia I would like to hear of them too.

Thanks
