RFI Albany, WA

Hi all, I am having a very short time in the WA south-west before going on to Christmas Island and Cococs. I have one day and 2 nights in Albany before heading over to Esperance for about 3 days. I have done lots of homework and this is a return visit so I know where to chase the local specialities. I fly out of Melbourne tomorrow morning. One bird over there I haven’t seen is Rock Parrot. As my time is so limited can anyone tell me of any Rock Parrot sightings in Albany or Esperance in the last week or so. What I would like is where and at what time of day. I am planning to look for them early in Albany along the beachfront and the golf course. In Esperance I have more time and will be looking everywhere I can. cheers Jenny http://jenniferspryausbirding.blogspot.com.au/ =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: birding-aus-request@vicnet.net.au http://birding-aus.org ===============================

Hi Jen, I was in Albany last year and saw Rock Parrots at a few spots. I saw the birds twice at Lake Seppings. They were on the western shore just south of the bird hide foraging in a grassy area. This was late in the afternoon and also early the next morning I also saw them at Emu Point on the grassy area in front of the cafe. This was early in the morning before anyone was around. I also heard while I was there to look along Middleton Beach and also at the old whaling station south of town. Good luck, Michael. =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) http://birding-aus.org ===============================
