Hi Martin, Thanks, that’s good to hear other people’s photos appear to show a colour progression also. I did wonder if it was simply the light. Today’s photos were taken a few hours apart and despite being variable they definitely (appear to) show more colouring than 26 Jan. Out of curiosity I bumped up the saturation on the photo from 26 Jan and could not get the throat to colour at all, it still shows as white. I also remember thinking the bird could easily have been overlooked when I saw it 26 Jan, but today it was very obviously different to an Australasian Pipit (of which we saw four on both trips). It really is a very striking bird. But I’ve not seen a RT Pipit before either! I’m really keen to see if it does colour up further. I’ll send some photos shortly.
