Red-necked Crakes

The pair at Cassowary House, Kuranda have 4 youngsters, which look to have almost doubled in size in two days; they walk around the gardens with constant high-pitched trilling calls, answered by quiet grunts from the parents, and some times some much shriller quite musical notes from the juvs. that I had not heard before, sadly probably not on my recording which I am about to post to the Internet Bird Collection (IBC). A large goanna has appeared which is not good news! A couple of other pairs of the crakes that are adjacent don’t seem to have any youngsters. Be interesting to see what the cyclone brings for them, I will ask Sue to update as I will be in Ghana. Phil Gregory Website 2: Http://www.cassowary-house.com.au
